Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Night Shift)

Shift Details

• Night shift, 18:45 to 07:15 (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• No call requirement
• Float requirement: May be required to float to a nearby main campus (~32 minutes away)

Patient Population & Diagnoses

• Common patient diagnoses include diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, congestive heart failure, urinary tract infections, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, failure to thrive, and various surgical recovery cases.

Unit & Work Environment

• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Unit uses Pyxis medication system
• Self-scheduling
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Scrubs: Navy blue or white
• Must be able to work holidays
• No block schedules except weekend blocks allowed
• Must participate in Storm/Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or disasters

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Colostomy/ileostomy management and care
• Pre/Post hemodialysis management
• Central line blood draws
• PICC line management
• Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) management
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
