Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Care for ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC) level patients, including medical-surgical patient flow
- Patient-to-nurse ratio up to 1:5 at peak times
- Weekend scheduling every other weekend (EOW)
- Local travel assignment with same pay for local candidates
- First-time travel nurses allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Current TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check (covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
- Social Security trace
- County, nationwide, sex offender checks
- Facis level 3 check
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated with contract renewals
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunization or titer proof for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening:
- 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
- 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine test within 30 days prior to start
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completed employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
- Texas Employee Misconduct Registry results
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion and signing of confidentiality agreement prior to start
- Review and sign contract orientation documents prior to start
- Review RN job description prior to start
- Completion of Healthstream Rapid Registration and ETA training before start
