Description
Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Polson, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (6:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
- Workweek: 40 hours
- Float: May float between units (details unknown)
- On-call: Yes, variable call on weekends and nights (approximately 8 shifts/month)
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd or 4th weekend depending on rotation and time off requests
- Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:4 depending on unit
- Specialty Areas: 2-room OR with specialties including OBGYN, Orthopedics, GI/General Surgery, ENT, Pain, Dental
- Units Covered: All surgery department areas including Pre/Post-op, Circulating, PACU, Endoscopy
- EMR System: Epic
- Schedule Flexibility: 4 days/week, 10-hour shifts may be possible
- 48-hour shifts: Not approved

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in the following specialty areas:
- Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Gastroenterology (GI)
- Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgery
- Pain Management
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Fit Mask Test: Required for travel candidates, must be updated annually (onsite testing available)
- Immunizations and Screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer, boosters or declination accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer, boosters or declination accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination accepted
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention policies
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable); 10-panel required for some Per Diem candidates
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates, annual medical clearance for respirator use
Background and Credentialing Requirements
- Background Check: Within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- E-Verify: Required attestation
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcripts or CES report
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- State-Specific Checks: Washington and Oregon state-specific searches as applicable
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required
Additional Notes
- Floating Policy: Acknowledgement required; may float to other facilities within reasonable distance
- Epic Training: Completion of Epic modules required within a week of orientation; transcripts must be submitted
- Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Training: Required via assigned LMS modules; exemptions for return candidates with less than a year gap
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required for this position
