ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Texas, Abilene
Position Overview
- Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
- Location: Abilene, Texas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Patient Population: ICU / Medical-Surgical (MS) patient flow
- Patient Ratios: Up to 1:5 at highest acuity
- Facility Type: Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH)
- Weekend Scheduling: Every other weekend (EOW)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check (all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
- Social Security trace
- County and nationwide checks
- Sex offender registry check
- Federal exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) updated as required
- Primary source verification of state nursing license (NURSYS verification required)
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completion of employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening:
- 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
- 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine test within 30 days prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific confidentiality agreement and contract orientation prior to start
- Texas Employee Misconduct Registry check required
Additional Information
- Orientation includes review and signing of RN job description and safety manual acknowledgment
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required, must meet passing score
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required; first-time travelers allowed
