Description

Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

Unit Type: Step Down and Medical-Surgical
Beds: 23 Step Down, 16 Med Surg
Patient Ratios:
- Step Down: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Med Surg: 1 nurse to 4-6 patients
Equipment Used: Lifts, chest tubes, cardiac drips, stable ventilated patients, tracheostomies
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
Typical Procedures: Tracheostomy care, chest tube management, wound dressing changes
Staff Composition:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCT)
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 PCTs
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Floating Areas: Other medical-surgical and progressive care units
Weekend/On-call Requirements: Approximately 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) in a 6-week period
Weekly Hours: 36 hours

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working with Cerner EMR system
Experience caring for patients with tracheostomies

Ideal Candidate Profile

Flexible and adaptable to changing clinical demands
High level of clinical competence and critical thinking skills

This position does not require prior travel experience.
