Radiology Technologist (Rad Tech) - Illinois, Rockford

Position Summary

  • Perform radiographic procedures under the direction of a radiologist with technical independence.
  • Apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis using independent judgment and initiative.
  • Collect patient medical history and answer patient questions about imaging procedures.
  • Follow provider instructions on imaging areas and guide patients safely and comfortably through the process.
  • Operate imaging equipment proficiently with a strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper imaging techniques, including positioning and technical factors for special populations (children, elderly, debilitated patients).
  • Collaborate with providers on imaging results and determine if additional images are needed.

Work Environment & Equipment

  • Use Carestream portable units (3 total).
  • Work in 4 imaging rooms, including one in the Emergency Department.
  • Operate 9 C-arms (OEC/GE), including one 3D unit.
  • Use one O-arm Medtronics and one Carestream fluoroscopy unit.
  • Work settings include outpatient, Emergency Department, and inpatient areas.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts.
  • Evening and night shifts available.
  • Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend.
  • No on-call requirements.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of radiology technologist experience.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • IEMA certification.
  • Level I Trauma certification preferred but not required.
  • Active Illinois radiology technologist license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated.
  • Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels.

Additional Notes

  • Orientation includes 12 non-billable hours; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
  • Call-off policy allows the equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty or shift payment.
  • Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles.
