Registered Echo Technologist (Contract)
Location: Lancaster, Ohio
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday; Wednesday off)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 40
Job Summary
- Perform cardiovascular diagnostic ultrasound procedures including 2-D echo with M-Mode, spectral & color flow Doppler, transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, and other non-invasive cardiopulmonary procedures as ordered by physicians.
- Assist physicians and cardiovascular staff during procedures.
- Maintain high standards of quality care and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
- Record and report diagnostic data, including life-threatening results, promptly to physicians.
- Clean and disinfect cardiology equipment and accessories.
- Perform related duties such as supply inventory, clerical tasks, patient transport, telephone inquiries, procedure logging, and special assignments.
- Participate in monthly cardiovascular meetings, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs, and Six Sigma quality initiatives.
- Supervise and instruct students; precept new employees.
- Uphold patient rights and privacy in compliance with HIPAA.
- Perform CPR as needed.
- Maintain a neat and safe work environment.
- Must pass competencies including rhythm recognition.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Echo Technologist, with experience within the last year preferred.
- Registered cardiac sonographer credential or registry eligible through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Associate's or Bachelor of Science degree in Vascular/Echocardiography from an accredited institution, or an Associate's degree in an Allied Health discipline combined with relevant on-the-job training.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with patients, families, medical staff, and coworkers.

- Strong organizational skills and commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate problem-solving, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Physical and Work Environment
- Medium physical demand: exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds often.
- Potential exposure to electrical equipment.
- Requires analytical abilities, memory, problem-solving, creativity, and effective communication.
