Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – IMC
Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:45–07:15)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in Intermediate Care (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown settings.
- Float coverage required to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed.
- Weekend coverage every other weekend; scheduling directed by unit based on operational needs.
- Patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6 on Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
- Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Additional Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
- Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check including criminal, education verification, and drug screening.
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunization and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
- Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG testing (minimum 80% passing score).
- Compliance with I9/E-Verify attestation and other employment eligibility verifications.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Night shift schedule with 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
- Floating between units may be required.
- Weekend coverage every other weekend.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced acute care environment with critically ill patients.
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with PCU/IMC/Stepdown expertise who meet certification and competency requirements and are comfortable with night shifts and floating responsibilities.
