Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Location

• Nashville, Tennessee

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 36 hours per week
• Scheduling requires 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block

Unit Details

• Medical/Surgical unit with 36 beds
• Patient ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
• Unit staffing includes a secretary daily and PRN techs
• Equipment used: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV Pumps
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Floating policy: Will float over core staff

Patient Population & Care

• Care includes patients with wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, seizures
• Some patients may require dialysis or PCA pumps; only Heparin drips used
• Post-operative care includes amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs
• Patient experience expectations: bedside shift report, safety checks every 1-2 hours, focus on communication and responsiveness

Unit Policies & Guidelines

• Infection prevention: CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
• Fall prevention protocols
• 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
• Attendance policy enforced

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience caring for patients who may require dialysis
• Experience caring for patients with PCA pumps
• BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
