Description
Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit size: 25 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Weekend shifts required
- Float requirement within scope of practice
- On-call: None
- Block scheduling: Case by case, requires manager approval
- Documentation system: EPIC (experience preferred)
- Scrub color: Navy
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types required by location)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted if titers negative or equivocal
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox required; boosters if titers negative or equivocal
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, phencyclidine, propoxyphene)
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color blind testing (online version accepted)
- Core competency exams as applicable (minimum 80% passing score)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- Orientation safety manual and HIPAA acknowledgement

Notes
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation for New Mexico placements only (not applicable here)
- Return-to-work parameters and scheduling require manager approval
- No on-call duties for this position
This position is suitable for RNs with medical-surgical experience seeking a travel contract in Tulsa, OK, with day shifts and weekend requirements. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
