Registered Nurse - MICU (Oklahoma, Tulsa)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
Provide patient care in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) following the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating nursing care based on clinical standards
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care and outcomes
- Using performance improvement techniques to enhance quality of care
- Collecting and analyzing patient health data to identify problems and expected outcomes
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans
- Delegating tasks to unlicensed personnel per Board of Nursing guidelines
- Conducting discharge planning and patient/family education
- Maintaining confidentiality of patient information
Float assignment is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications at time of submission:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start date, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Unit-specific skills checklist annually
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
- Completion of employment application/resume
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Navy
- Candidates must be able to attend orientation and complete required training prior to starting
- Discharge planning and patient education are integral parts of the role
- Must maintain confidentiality and comply with all facility policies and procedures
