Description

Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Call requirement: 40-60 hours of call over a 6-week schedule
  • Holidays required

Specialty

  • Surgical Services with a focus on liver transplant cases

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in liver transplant surgical tech role
  • Must be able to independently scrub liver recipient transplants
  • Experience with large open belly cases including:
    • General surgery
    • Urology
    • Thoracic
    • Gynecology
    • Plastics
    • Whipple procedure
    • Liver resection
    • Free flap surgeries
  • Proficient in scrub and aseptic technique
  • Familiarity with DaVinci XI surgical equipment

Certifications Required

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification

Case Volume & Facility Details

  • Average daily surgical case volume: 35 cases
  • Number of operating rooms: 22

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background check within 90 days of start, including:
    • 7 years of residence/work history
    • SSN trace, county and state criminal checks
    • National sex offender registry
    • FACIS Level III
    • Education verification
    • International search if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Official transcript or diploma verifying education
  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Rubeola (Measles): positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
    • Mumps: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
    • Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
    • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Tuberculosis screening within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT)
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Color blindness exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge nurses, managers, supervisors, or higher
  • Current employment application with full work history and explanations for any gaps over 30 days (covering 7 years)
  • Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance documents prior to start
  • Completion of mandatory safety and compliance training modules as required by the facility

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification

Important Notes

  • Liver transplant experience is a hard stop requirement; candidates must have scrubbed liver transplants independently recently
  • Indiana residents will not be eligible to sign new contracts in this specialty at this facility effective March 1, 2026
  • On-site fit testing is limited and requires prior approval; PAPR use requires facility approval except at certain campuses where it is automatically approved
