Description

Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)


Job Description

  • Work as a Cath Lab RN with a focus on cardiac catheterization procedures.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required in Cardiac Cath Lab and critical care or Emergency Department (ED).
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Must be able to respond to on-call situations within 30 minutes.
  • Required skills: sedation or circulation assistance during Left heart Cath, STEMIs, PCI, Right heart cath, pericardiocentesis, and temporary wires.
  • Preferred skills: sedation or circulation assistance with pacemakers, Bi-V, ICD implantable devices, and Inari for pulmonary embolism cases.
  • Patient population: Adults.
  • Unit has 2 procedure rooms with an average daily census of 4-8 patients.

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Holidays: Required as scheduled, including 1 holiday shift (may include day before or after).
  • Weekends: Includes 3 single weekend call shifts per month.
  • On-call: 3 on-call shifts per week (including 3 weekend shifts per month) plus 1 holiday on-call shift. Must meet 30-minute callback time.
  • Floating: Required within the specialty and to other units/facilities within scope.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Emergency Department (ED) is required.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check: 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually. Felonies within 5 years are disqualifying.
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
  • Physical exam: Required within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with children).
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination/declination as applicable).
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (for 2025-26 season).
  • Fit mask test: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually. Must be medically cleared to wear respirator.
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start.
  • Verification of previous 5 years of work history.
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to start (time spent is not reimbursed).
  • Completion of Pyxis Access Request Form after learning modules.
  • Submission of a passport-style photo for badge.
  • Signing of confidentiality agreement and job description prior to start.
  • Completion of security ID application within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Completion of any additional facility-required forms and questionnaires (e.g., latex allergy questionnaire).
  • Review of facility dress code and parking policies prior to start.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be able to meet the 30-minute call-back time when on-call.
  • Floating within specialty and to sister facilities may be required.
  • Scrub color and other unit-specific details will be provided.

This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced Cath Lab RNs with critical care skills, including those new to travel nursing.
