Description
Registered Nurse (IMC/ICU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with float assignments to Medical-Surgical (MS) and Emergency Department (ED) as needed
- Shift: 3x12 hour rotating day/night shifts (0700-1930 & 1900-0730)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, totaling 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) in a six-week period
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
- Certifications required:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- SPT Certification
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
Health & Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon, or T-spot) within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 23 - Mar 31)
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), covering multiple substances; positive results reviewed by Medical Review Officer
Background & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including federal, state, and county searches
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- I9/E-Verify attestation required for all candidates
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date
Additional Information
- Valid driver’s license required if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (not required for sterile processing techs)
Summary
This travel nursing contract is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts in critical care settings including IMC, ICU, MS, and ED. Candidates must meet strict certification, competency, and health requirements, including passing a specialized EKG exam and maintaining current immunizations and background clearances.
