Registered Nurse - ICU (Texas, Tyler) Travel/Contract Position
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Tyler, Texas
- Unit: Medical-Surgical ICU
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Unit Size: 16 beds
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year background check updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG screenings
- Education verification (highest level)
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
- Complete employment application and resume
- Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
- Photo for badge
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Charcoal Grey/Pewter
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (e.g., Henderson, Anderson, Smith, Gregg, etc.) are not eligible for travel contracts in this facility’s state system
- Orientation and training requirements must be completed prior to starting work
- Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
This position offers a focused ICU nursing role on night shifts with a 1:2 patient ratio in a 16-bed unit, ideal for experienced ICU RNs seeking a travel contract in Texas.
