Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Facility Overview

  • Children's Hospital / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Total Staff Beds: 181
  • RN Scrub Color: Navy
  • Parking: Free in any unrestricted space; bike racks available

Work Schedule

  • Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
  • No on-call required
  • No floating between units
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience & References

  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Employment application must include at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format

Background & Screening Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Education verification required (nursing degree verification mandatory)
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
  • Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Unit-specific competency exams, including EFM training for Labor and Delivery RNs
  • Color blindness testing if required by unit

Additional Requirements

  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start
  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • WA State multi-state licensed nurses must complete demographic attestation if applicable
  • Float policy acknowledgment may be required (may float to nearby facilities)
