Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Outpatient
Location
- Kalamazoo, Michigan
Position Type
- Travel / Contract
Setting
- Hospital-based outpatient rehabilitation clinic
Patient Population
- Adults required, adolescents preferred
- Diagnoses include lymphedema, cognitive evaluation/treatment, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions
Schedule
- Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
- No call, weekend, or float requirements unless low patient census requires covering other sites
Patient Load
- Approximately 10-11 patients per day
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Michigan
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with lymphedema, manual therapy, and hand therapy
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one prior Tdap vaccine)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (no exemptions accepted)
- Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption (for candidates starting after Nov 1)
- Completion of facility-specific Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy acknowledgments
- Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start (process coordinated via employer)
- Completion of MI Central Registry Clearance if applicable (time sensitive for certain specialties; verify if required)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam and Competency Exam in specialty completed within 1 year prior to assignment start with passing score of at least 80%
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
Additional Notes
- Fit testing is generally not required for outpatient occupational therapists at this facility
- No weekend or call requirements
- Floating to other sites only if low patient census requires coverage
