Description
Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) – Days
Location: Herrin, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM, 4 days per week with rotating day off; includes 1 weeknight and 2 weekend days per month for call requirements
Hours per Week: 36
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in transportation and positioning of patients
- Prepare patient and room for surgical procedures
- Assemble and dismantle tables and instruments before and after procedures
- Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures
- Complete skin preparation and draping
- Assist surgeon with gowning, gloving, and passing instruments and sutures
- Maintain correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges
- Apply dressings and bandages as needed
- Identify, collect, and care for specimens
- Decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to policies
- Handle and store instruments, equipment, and supplies appropriately
- Aid in efficient turnover of the operating room for subsequent cases
- Monitor and restock supplies
Required Qualifications
- Valid Surgical Technologist license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through NBSTSA or NCCT
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- High School diploma or equivalent

- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
