Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Shift: Day, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule includes weekend and holiday rotations.
- No on-call required.
- Floating between campuses as needed is mandatory.
- Patient Care Unit (PCU) nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year required.
- Telemetry experience required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Pass/Fail Testing for EKG and Medication competency.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication).
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for Cardiac Progressive Care and ER RNs)
- Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG Exam (must score 82% or higher; 2 attempts allowed)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)
Required Skills and Competencies
- Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Peripheral line care and management, including PICC lines.
- Ability to titrate drips.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to strict punctuality and attendance policies.
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse license for North Carolina with primary source verification required within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (required for badge).
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Education verification by a third party; Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required.
- Transcript or diploma may be required if education was obtained outside the U.S. (foreign equivalency evaluation allowed within 30 days after start).
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history.
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third party.
- Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months).
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing).
- Completion of Health History Form including any physician-mandated work restrictions.
- Completion of facility-specific floating and equipment acknowledgement policies.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start.
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within the current calendar year and updated annually.
- Proof of adult Tdap vaccine.
- TB testing (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months of start; chest X-ray if positive history.
- TB Questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart.
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination documentation.
- Varicella immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026).
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be aware of and agree to the zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
- Pass/Fail EKG exam is mandatory for all RNs regardless of specialty.
- Candidates must be flexible to float between all campuses as needed.
- No prior travel experience required.
