Description
Registered Nurse - Medsurg/Telemetry Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seneca, South Carolina
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily on a Medical-Surgical unit with patient population mostly elderly, presenting with respiratory diseases, infections, dementia, and neurological issues.
- Must be experienced in both Medsurg and Telemetry to float between units as needed.
- The unit promotes a healthy work environment with strong teamwork and has a charge RN on every shift to oversee operations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health records system
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing policy
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Driver’s License/State ID: Required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty.
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, including alias and multi-state/county searches.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
- Fingerprinting required if applicable based on residency/work history.
- Education Verification: Highest level of education must be verified; diplomas are not accepted as placeholders.
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements.
- Online Modules: Must complete approximately 12 hours of online modules within 72 hours of assignment; required before starting onsite.
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication and arrhythmia competency exams required prior to orientation with two attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation.
- Floating Policy: Must sign and comply with floating policy, renewed annually.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Physician’s statement within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Immunizations and Testing:
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start.
- Current Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine if working or floating in high-risk areas.
- Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B.
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required by specified deadlines (not required for remote workers).
- Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation.
Competency and Training Requirements
- Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training modules covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, harassment, fire safety, and other essential topics.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually.
- Color Blind Testing required for nurses assigned to Emergency Department or Pediatric ER.
