Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Lab

Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with an average of 3 cath and 2 angiography cases per day. The nurse will provide care for patients with cardiac and vascular conditions including STEMI, stroke, and various interventional procedures.


Work Environment

  • 2 cath labs and 6 pre/post procedure beds
  • Use of Epic EMR system and Philips monitoring equipment
  • Charge nurse present on shift who may also take assignments
  • Cath Lab Technicians available
  • Hospital scrubs provided
  • Orientation typically lasts 1 week (4 shifts)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and peripheral angiography
  • Read telemetry strips and titrate IV drips
  • Administer and manage a variety of IV medications
  • Support procedures including IVC placement, temporary pacemaker insertion, and neuro interventions
  • On-call duties: 2-3 weeknights, every 3rd weekend, and 2 holidays per year
  • Rarely required to float; no patient assignments when floating

Required Qualifications

  • Active Illinois RN license or proof that application process has been initiated
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
  • Previous experience in a cardiac cath lab setting
  • Ability to read telemetry strips and manage IV drips
  • Knowledge of peripheral angiography, interventional radiology, and neuro intervention preferred
  • Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free workplace)

Additional Notes

  • Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
  • Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians living within 50 miles
  • Call off policy allows 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty

This position is ideal for a cardiac cath RN with solid cath lab experience looking for a 13-week contract in a supportive and well-equipped environment.
