Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath

Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 (4 x 9-hour shifts with call)

Job Summary

• Work in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab with 2 labs and 6 pre/post beds
• Average daily cases: 3 cardiac caths and 2 angiograms
• Use Epic EMR and Philips monitoring equipment
• Collaborate with Cath Lab Techs and occasionally act as charge nurse with patient assignments

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or proof that application process has started
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
• Previous cath lab experience required
• Ability to read telemetry strips and titrate drips
• Knowledge of IV medications
• Preferred experience with peripheral angiograms, interventional radiology (IR), and neuro interventions
• Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus policy)

Work Environment & Scheduling

• 8-hour shifts, typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• On call 2-3 weeknights per week
• On call every 3rd weekend
• On call 2 holidays per year
• Rarely required to float; no patient assignments when floating
• Hospital scrubs provided
• Unit-specific orientation usually lasts 1 week (4 shifts)
• Orientation includes 12 non-billable hours

Patient Population & Procedures

• Common patient diagnoses: STEMI, stroke
• Procedures include drain placement, line placement, all heart caths, peripheral angiograms, IVC placement, temporary pacemaker insertion

Additional Notes

• Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians living within 50 miles
• Call off policy allows 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty or shift payment obligation

Experience Requirements

• Specialty experience: Must have prior cath lab experience (years not explicitly stated, but experience is mandatory)
