Description
Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Emergency Department
Location: Hillsboro, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night shift, 18:45 to 07:00 (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Assignment Length: Minimum 13 weeks (negotiable)
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on both Medical Surgical and Emergency Department units.
- Must be able to manage patient load on the floor and handle ER patients.
- Experience in both Med Surg and ED required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas.
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
- Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
- Background checks within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start.
- Primary source verification of RN license (e.g., NURSYS).
- Completion of facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (confidentiality, HIPAA, computer use, etc.).
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
- N95 Fit Test within 1 year prior to start (including mask model and size).
- Immunizations and/or titers for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if positive.
- Annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
- Drug screen within 12 months prior to start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (Oct-April).
- COVID vaccination, declination, or exemption (boosters not required).
- Two professional references within 3 years.
- Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
Additional Information
- Blocked scheduling (grouped shifts) may be accommodated when possible.
- The facility requires flexibility to work both Med Surg and ED patient care.
This position is ideal for RNs with combined Med Surg and Emergency Department experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in Kansas.
