Description
Registered Nurse – Ortho (Travel/Contract)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), every other week (EOW)
- Includes one holiday and one holiday evening shift during the holiday period
- No on-call required
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 (possible stretch to 1:7)
- Specialty in orthopedic and trauma nursing with focus on pre-op and post-op care for elective and trauma patients
- Experience with total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs, orthopedic trauma, and use of safe patient handling and orthopedic equipment (e.g., CPM, knee immobilizer, bone foam)
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- EPIC electronic health record system required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup prior to start
- Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code acknowledgment, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgment must be reviewed and signed
- Badge photo submission required prior to clearance (business casual or uniform, forward-facing, solid color background, no selfies or altered photos)
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
Preferred Certifications (Not mandatory but recommended)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – if applicable
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – if applicable
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) – may be preferred for certain units
- NIH Stroke Certification – required for ER RNs at this facility
Important Notes
- Candidates must acknowledge and pass all required competency exams including medication and EKG tests
- Candidates must be aware of and comply with all compliance deadlines, including submission of required documents by specified dates
- Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers accepted for this assignment
This position is ideal for experienced orthopedic RNs with trauma background who are comfortable working 12-hour day shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment using EPIC and specialized orthopedic equipment.
