Description

ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (4 shifts x 12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • Mixed acuity unit covering ICU to some PCU ratios
  • Patient population primarily cardiovascular surgery and thoracic surgery patients (CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, VATS)
  • Additional patients include medical/surgical, progressive care, cardiovascular ICU, and oncology patients
  • Unit equipped with telemetry and all private rooms with overhead lifts

Staffing Ratios

  • ICU ratio: 1:2
  • AA ratio: 1:3-4 (very rare)

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Indiana
  • Minimum 18 months (1.5 years) of ICU nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Required certifications: ACLS and BLS issued by the American Heart Association

Schedule & Work Requirements

  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Guaranteed hours options:
    • 8 or 10-hour shifts totaling 40 hours/week
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours totaling 36 hours/week
    • 4 shifts of 12 hours totaling 48 hours/week
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
  • Block scheduling may be discussed but not guaranteed
  • Local candidates not accepted

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for Indiana required
  • Online license verification within 30 days before start date

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background check within 90 days, including 7-year work/lived history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Official transcript or diploma verifying degree and graduation date
  • Education verification by third party (may be pending at start)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators only)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • TB test within 1 year (or chest x-ray if positive)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30–3/31)
  • Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required annually and within 12 months of start
  • Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
  • Current employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
