Description

Job Opportunity: Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Night shift: 18:45 - 07:15 (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 36 hours/week)
  • Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
  • Float requirement to other telemetry units
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend days in a 6-week period
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Patient population includes telemetry patients with chest pain, arrhythmias, pacemakers, defibrillators, and heart failure management
  • Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
  • Scrubs: Not provided

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with cardiac GTT (cardiac drip) management
  • Comfortable managing cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, and Amiodarone
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
    • BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

Compliance and Screening Requirements

  • Background checks including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
  • Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B titer or facility-specific declination form if negative/equivocal
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (mask required if exempt)
  • TB testing: Negative PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
  • Annual compliance and facility-specific education modules required

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete medication safety training and submit certificate of completion
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and education checklists (may take 8-10 hours)
  • Must complete competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG)
  • Must complete confidentiality agreement and hospital policies acknowledgment
  • Must provide a passport-style photo for badge creation (white background, business attire, no head coverings except glasses)
  • Must complete facility-specific badge and ID setup process prior to start
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years (not required for non-clinical)
  • Employment application must be uploaded

Important Notes

  • No return to office (RTO) after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation and denial of rehire
  • Float to other telemetry units is required
  • Candidates may test out of the 8-hour Epic Dimensions course if eligible, allowing earlier start onsite
  • Radiation badges required only for specific tech and specialty roles (not applicable here)
