Cath Lab Technologist – Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a cardiac catheterization lab with 6 suites/labs.
• Average 10 to 15 cases per day.
• Duties include scrubbing, monitoring hemodynamics, and circulating.
• Use of EPIC, PACS, and McKesson cardiology systems.
• Cardiologists are on call 24/7.
• Shifts are 10 hours per day, primarily day shifts, with rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
• Call is weekly on a rotational basis, typically 8-9 shifts per month, with a 30-minute response time.
• Orientation lasts 3 to 5 days, with 12 non-billable orientation hours guaranteed.
• Scrubs are provided by the hospital.
• No floating required.
• Mandatory call list used if staff cannot fulfill call shifts.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency) certification required.
• Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated.

Experience Requirements

• Previous cardiac cath lab experience required.
• Pediatric cath lab experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with McKesson cardiology PACS preferred but not required.

Additional Information

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius.
• Drug-free campus policy; negative drug screen required for all panels.
• Call off policy allows up to 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty or pay obligation.
• Primary charge nurse available from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM; does not routinely complete cases but takes call.

Scheduling & Work Hours

• 10-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week.
• Rotating weekends, holidays, and call shifts.
• Call shifts require availability to respond within 30 minutes.
