Position Summary
- Function as both caregiver and care manager.
- Responsible for patient care using the Nursing Process.
- Direct and oversee other caregivers through delegation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
- Make sound judgments and decisions related to patient care.
- May function as Charge Nurse, including delegation, patient assignment, admissions, discharges, transfers, staff coverage coordination, and problem-solving.

Essential Functions
- Perform patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status.
- Implement care plans consistently and skillfully.
- Identify and address patient learning needs.
- Document patient care accurately in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Delegate patient care activities appropriately and supervise assigned coworkers.
- Organize and prioritize tasks using critical thinking.
- Adhere to safety protocols including infection control, equipment use, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
Work Environment
- Collaborate closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians.
- Report to nursing leadership and supervisory staff.
Required Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP).
- Experience in Charge Nurse roles.
Certifications
- AWHONN certification.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs and perform CPR.
- Manual dexterity to manage multiple equipment and invasive lines.
- Physical strength to assist with patient handling (lifting/pushing/pulling 60 to 300 pounds with assistance).
- Visual acuity for patient assessment and documentation.
- Emotional stability to handle high-stress situations for 8 to 12 hours.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Information
- Up to 24 hours of on-call availability per month at no additional cost during the assignment.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs seeking a contract role in a family birthing center environment with opportunities to lead and manage patient care.
