Description
Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location
- Dickson, Tennessee
Employment Type
- Travel assignment
- Contract length: 12 weeks
- Full-time, approximately 36 hours per week
- Schedule includes 3 shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
Unit Overview
- Unit: Women’s Services (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum - LDRP)
- Beds: 9 LDRP beds, 1 OB ED bed, 4 NICU beds, 1 OR suite
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 for active labors, inductions, C-sections
- 1:3 for couplet care
- 1:1 for newborns until stable
- NICU intermediate care ratio 1:3, with minimum 2 NICU nurses present when NICU patients are in the unit
- No unit secretaries or techs available
- Equipment includes central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, PCA pumps
- Documentation systems: Meditech and CPN
- Floating policy: Staff may be required to float anywhere within the facility; some cross-training between LDRP and NICU
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Fetal Monitoring
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification
- Labor and Delivery experience
Unit Culture and Environment
- Team of highly experienced RNs with many having approximately 30 years of experience; strong preceptors available
- Additional experienced nurses with 7-10 years tenure on unit
- Collaborative and supportive team environment
- Opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care
Dress Code
- Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy
Certifications and Awards
- Unit certified by Joint Commission
- Stroke Center designation
- Level II Trauma Center
- Level II NICU
Additional Notes
- Daily rounding on all patients and safety rounding required as part of patient experience standards
