Description
Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Easton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM) with one scheduled late shift per week (10:00 AM – 8:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Job Description
- Work in a cardiac catheterization lab performing procedures such as Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Pacemaker insertion, Loop monitors, Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), and Cardioversions.
- Patient diagnoses include Acute Coronary Syndrome, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), STEMI/NSTEMI, Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB), and Bradycardia.
- Use specialized equipment including Balloon Pump and Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS).
- Average daily case volume: 7-14 cases across 2 Cath Lab rooms.
- On-call required: must be within 30 minutes of the facility during on-call shifts. On-call shifts are Monday-Friday 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM and 24-hour coverage on weekends/holidays, approximately 10-13 call shifts per month.
- Weekend and holiday work required as scheduled.
- Floating to pre-op/PACU within unit/specialty as needed.
- Scrub color: Royal blue.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab, with experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen (including Fentanyl) within 30-90 days prior to start; instant tests not accepted.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TDaP within 10 years or signed declination.
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption for the current season.
- COVID vaccine not required but documentation collected for tracking.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters required; medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation.
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted.
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as per guidelines; must be updated annually. TB questionnaire required if positive TB history.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start with approved mask models.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and Maryland State Exclusions List within 30 days of start. Felonies within 5 years are automatic disqualification.
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start required.
- Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience in the nursing position within the last 5 years.
- Agency application/resume completed within 30 days of start.
Orientation and Facility Policies
- Orientation held at 8 AM on Tuesdays (normal schedule) at the facility’s School of Nursing.
- Dress code: Royal blue scrubs or business casual during orientation; scrubs required on floor starting Thursday.
- Required to sign confidentiality agreement, job description acknowledgment, badge application, and dress code review prior to start.
- Photo for badge required (passport style with solid white/beige background).
- Completion of facility-specific forms including latex allergy questionnaire, annual TB risk assessment, access form, and vaccination exemption forms if applicable.
Additional Notes
- On-call shifts require proximity within 30 minutes to the facility.
- Floating within specialty units may be required.
- Must complete online CPI training module prior to orientation.
- Must complete medication and EKG competency exams at orientation.
- Portfolio Epic training test-out option available for eligible candidates based on prior Epic experience.
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs seeking a travel contract with a structured schedule and comprehensive orientation and credentialing process.
