Job Description
- Provide clinical nutrition services primarily for adult and geriatric populations; no pediatric or neonatal ICU coverage required.
- Must be competent in Nutrition Focused Physical Exam and identification of malnutrition characteristics.
- Work with typical acute care hospital diagnoses such as heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, stroke, trauma, orthopedic, oncology, renal failure, gastrointestinal issues, coronary artery disease, COPD, respiratory failure, etc.
- Experience in various units including Medical ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Neurology ICU, Pediatric ICU Progressive Care, medical and surgical units, rehabilitation, orthopedic, pediatric, obstetrics, and neonatal ICU.
- Use of clinical tools and equipment such as CMO, ventilators, and Cortrak tube placement service.
- Emphasis on quality, accuracy, good communication skills, and organization; volume of work is not the primary focus.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
- Recent experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Experience in an acute care setting.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card.
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Education verification with a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related field required; Master’s preferred.
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history.
- Verification of all employment history within the last 5 years.
- Two supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months).
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
- Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code acknowledgment, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgment, and job description review.
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing).
- Completion of onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (if applicable).
- Fit mask test completed within the current calendar year and updated annually (N95 respirators approved).
- Proof of adult Tdap vaccine.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start.
- TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026).
Testing and Certification Requirements
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (2 attempts allowed, must score 82% or higher).
- EPIC test required with a passing score of 80% or higher (2 attempts allowed, additional attempts may be approved by manager).
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
- National certification: Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification (if applicable).
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Color vision testing (Relias preferred).
- Competency exams as applicable to specialty.
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
- Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date.
- Floating is required as part of the assignment.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
