Registered Nurse (Critical Care Unit) - Travel Position
Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
Employment Type: Full Time, Travel
Job Summary
Provide independent nursing care in a critical care setting, managing complex patients including those post cardio-thoracic surgery fresh out of OR. Care for high acuity patients with multiple comorbidities and drips, including use of advanced devices such as IMPELLA, Balloon Pump, Arctic Sun, TABLO XT/CRRT. Utilize nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Provide patient and family education and manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs.
Required Qualifications
- License: Current RN license in Texas or compact license
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in critical care nursing preferred; new graduates will be considered
- Experience with post cardio-thoracic surgery recovery and advanced cardiac support devices strongly preferred
- Previous experience with Epic electronic health record system is a plus
Position Requirements
- Attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days if newly hired
- Precepted onboarding with competency validations specific to critical care
- Completion of annual competency verifications
Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care independently
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitor for side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess and address learning needs of patients, families, and caregivers
Additional Information
- Experience caring for patients with advanced cardiac devices and high acuity conditions is essential
- Ability to manage multiple drips and complex clinical situations required
This role is ideal for a critical care RN with at least one year of specialty experience or a new graduate seeking travel experience in a high-acuity environment. Night shift availability and strong clinical judgment are essential.
