Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery

Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), 2nd Floor, Main Building
• Number of OR Suites: 3
• Staff: 11 total
• Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, 2 Scrub Techs, 1 Aide or Anesthesia Tech
• Night Shift: 3-member call team
• Patient Ratios: 3 staff members per OR
• Equipment: Open Heart, Vascular, Thoracic
• EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Hampshire
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Cardiac, Vascular, and Thoracic Operating Room experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to scrub cardiac and vascular cases
• Experience with Meditech EMR

• CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
• Valve surgeries
• TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
• EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair)
• TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair)
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Fistula creation/interventions
• VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery)
• Thoracotomy
• Femoral-popliteal bypass
• Angiograms with interventions
• LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device)
• RVAD (Right Ventricular Assist Device)
• ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
• Level 2 trauma coverage for vascular and thoracic procedures

Work Schedule & Call Requirements

• Approximately 36 hours per week
• Call requirement: about one weekend per month and 2-3 additional days per week
• Night call team consists of 3 people: 2 RNs and 1 scrub tech

Additional Notes

• Time off requests must be submitted during the contract period
• Location is on the seacoast of New Hampshire, about one hour north of Boston and 1.5 hours south of the White Mountains
