Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: 3rd Surgical
• Number of Beds: 27
• Staff: 5-6 RNs and 2-3 LNAs
• Shifts:

  • Day Shift: Charge RN, RNs, LNAs, Unit Coordinator (Monday-Friday)
  • Night Shift: Charge RN, RNs, 2-3 LNAs
• Patient Ratios: 5-6 patients per nurse
• Equipment: Hoyer lift, Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) machine, Code Cart
• Floating Area: Medical Oncology

Job Description

• Must have a current Registered Nurse license at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing in a hospital setting required
• Preferred experience includes 2 years in Med Surg, Orthopedics, and Bariatrics
• Typical procedures include orthopedic surgeries (knees, hips, shoulder, cervical) and bariatrics
• Work collaboratively with team members and maintain a patient-focused approach

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Schedule

• 36 hours per week
• Approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

Dress Code

• No specific scrub color required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
