Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Surgical Services
  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), 40 hours per week
  • Role involves scrubbing and circulating in the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
  • On-call requirements:
    • Vascular: 7 to 10 days on call including weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) when fully staffed
    • Hearts: 10 to 15 days on call including 2 weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
    • Call frequency depends on staffing levels
  • Locals accepted if residing over 50 miles from the facility
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Prior license pending status is not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a CVOR Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NBSTSA certification required

Compliance and Testing Requirements

  • Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment (required before start)
  • Pre-assignment testing (medication and EKG/arrhythmia tests) must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login information; two attempts allowed
  • Pass/fail testing for medication and arrhythmia required for RNs and certain tech roles (not required for prebook candidates)
  • Annual competency exams and core training (Parts I, II, III) required, including OSHA, patient safety, and age-specific care
  • Background screenings such as EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG must be current within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days for ongoing assignments
  • Badge photo required prior to start with specific guidelines (passport style, plain background, no obstructions)

Additional Notes

  • Call requirements and schedules will be discussed during the interview
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application and approved based on facility needs
  • Candidates with gaps of more than 30 days between contracts require updated physical exams and background checks
  • Facility is latex-free; latex allergies are acceptable
  • Candidates must have verifiable documentation for all health and compliance requirements
  • Floating policy must be signed by all clinical candidates and renewed annually
