Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Largo, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:30 - 08:00)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting.
- Patient diagnoses include:
- Cardiac Surgery (CABG, valve procedures)
- Coronary Artery Disease (STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock)
- Vascular procedures (peripheral bypasses, EVAR)
- Thoracic procedures (VATS)
- Floating required within the specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed.
- Work every other weekend and scheduled holidays as required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Experience Requirements
- Specialty experience: At least 2 years in CVICU or open heart nursing.
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers with required specialty experience will be considered.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and state-specific searches, education verification, and sanction lists.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
- Health documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit test within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per specified protocols, updated annually.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap as applicable.
- COVID-19 vaccination currently not required for this location but documentation or declination may be requested for tracking.
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start.
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history.
- Required facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, dress code acknowledgment, badge photo, and job description acknowledgment.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
- Epic training test-out option available for eligible candidates based on prior Epic experience.
- Floating and weekend/holiday work are mandatory components of the assignment.
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU nurses seeking a travel contract opportunity with a focus on cardiac and vascular critical care in a night shift setting.
