Registered Nurse – CVICU (Maryland, Largo)

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:30 – 20:00)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Start Date: June 29, 2026
• Location: Maryland, Largo

Unit & Patient Population

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Patient diagnoses include:

  • Cardiac Surgery: CABG, valve procedures, combined CABG/valve
  • Coronary Artery Disease: STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock
  • Vascular procedures: peripheral bypasses, EVAR
  • Thoracic procedures: VATS

Job Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required as scheduled
• Floating required within the specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID
• I-9 attestation and E-Verify compliance
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and county searches, sex offender registry, OFAC, education verification, and state-specific exclusions list (Maryland)
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
• TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year or 2-step PPD as required; TB questionnaire if positive history
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID vaccination not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)
• Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, dress code review, badge photo, and job description acknowledgment

Competency Requirements

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%)
• Age-specific competency exam (score ≥80%)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥80%)
• Color blindness testing
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as applicable
