Job Opportunity: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a fast-paced Neuro ICU treating neurological diseases and disorders such as seizures and strokes at a comprehensive stroke center.
- May also care for overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart and Vascular ICU.
- Floating required: traveler will float within a specialty cluster and may be assigned to medically appropriate units including multiple nearby campuses within 15 miles.
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
- EPIC experience required.
- Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips.
Shift Details
- Night shift
- 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Total 48 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Stroke experience in a Neuro ICU setting
- Current certifications in ACLS and BLS issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- E-Verify compliance and I-9 documentation prior to start.
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national and county checks, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work and free of communicable diseases.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray; annual TB questionnaire if past positive.
- Drug screening: 9 or 10 panel negative drug screen within 12 months; marijuana panel included; random drug screening during orientation week.
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually.
- Annual health questionnaire and candidate agreement fully completed prior to documentation due date.
- Two professional references within 2 years (one must be a manager/supervisor/charge RN) or employment verification if references unavailable.
- Current resume/application required.
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year prior to documentation due date.
Additional Notes
- Premier Health reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts due to low census during the 13-week contract.
- Agreement may be canceled with 2 weeks’ notice without penalty.
- Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives.
- Return to Offer (RTO) must be requested with initial application; no RTO added after offer. Approval is at manager’s discretion.
This position is ideal for experienced Neuro ICU RNs seeking a travel contract with exposure to a comprehensive stroke center and varied ICU patient populations.
