Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in North Carolina
Location
- Burlington, North Carolina
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Float: Required to float between all facilities within the system
Specialty & Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Prior travel experience is not required
Patient Population & Unit
- Inpatient department with a variety of patients having multiple co-morbidities
- Specialized care focus on stroke (neurology) patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6
- Telemetry experience required: remote monitoring experience mandatory; on-unit monitoring preferred
Required Skills & Clinical Competencies
- Pass/fail EKG exam required for all RNs
- Feeding tube care and management
- Accessing ports, blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
- Starting IVs
- Care for CVA patients and nasal cannula management
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and wound vac management
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS Stroke Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with feeding tube care and management
- Experience accessing ports
- Experience with central line care and management
- Experience working with patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
- Acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual
