ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Avon, Indiana
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Summary

• Role: ICU Registered Nurse
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per week: 36 hours
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Unit: Heavy Medical ICU with some surgical patients (mainly GI or carotids)
• Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care
• Total Staffed Beds: 174

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Clinical Skills:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Pre/post cardiac catheterization and interventions
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Care of GI surgery patients
  • Management of chronic and acute renal failure
  • Arterial line management
  • Central line care/management
  • Continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Management of BiPAP and CPAP
• Flexibility to float within scope to Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) and Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed

Job Responsibilities & Skills

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Care for multi-system organ failure patients
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization and interventions
• IV insulin protocols
• Care of GI surgery patients
• Management of chronic and acute renal failure
• Arterial line, central line, and PICC line care/management
• Blood product administration
• Continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Management of BiPAP, CPAP, ventilated patients, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Suctioning and ventilator management
• Infection prevention and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Floating within scope to Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) and Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed

Scheduling & Work Conditions

• Weekend shifts required; schedule varies and is flexible
• Shift options include:

  • 8 or 10-hour shifts totaling 40 hours/week
  • 3 shifts of 12 hours totaling 36 hours/week (typical for this role)
  • 4 shifts of 12 hours totaling 48 hours/week
• Locals are not accepted for this travel assignment
• No on-call required
• Scrub color: red top, black bottoms
• Charting system: Cerner
• Free parking available

• First-time travel nurses are accepted for this assignment
• Open to discussing block scheduling accommodations
• On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with prior approval
• Must complete all required facility-specific forms and orientation materials prior to start
