Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: 4 rotating weekend shifts per month
• On Call: Required
• Charting System: Must be proficient in EPIC
• Candidates within 50 miles radius considered
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Experience in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
• Proficient in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, nasal airway placement, and tracheostomy care/management
• Skilled in use of respiratory equipment including hand held devices, T-piece, trach collar, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, and CPAP
• Long term care experience preferred
• Proficient in EPIC charting system

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal background check (felony checks)
  • SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender registry, education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, with monthly updates
• Education verification from primary source (required if no prior verification on file)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required within 5 days of contract signing:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and parking pass form

Additional Requirements

• Must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing contract
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession
• Color blindness testing required once (not annually)
• Competency exams as required by specialty
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start

Work History and References

• Verification of at least 2 past employments required
• Employment application and skills checklist required annually
• Two professional references within 3 years required (for travel agency candidates)

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
• Candidates must be able to work night shifts and rotating weekends.
• On-call availability is mandatory.
