Description

Pediatrics Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Maryland

Job Details

  • Location: Largo, Maryland
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: July 15, 2026
  • Shift: Rotating nights and days
  • Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend required
  • Floating: Required within specialty as needed, may float to main location in Baltimore
  • On Call: No on-call requirement

Unit and Specialty Information

  • Pediatric medical-surgical unit with preferred experience in:
    • Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
    • Prematurity
    • Apnea of Prematurity (AOP)
    • Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
    • Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia/Chronic Lung Disease (BLD/CLD)
    • Cardiac defects
    • Feeding issues
    • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and iatrogenic NAS
    • Tracheostomy care

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Pediatrics experience, including Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • Employment and education verifications
    • State-specific exclusions list check (Maryland Medicaid Sanctioned Providers List) within 30 days of start
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
    • Fit test within 1 year of start
    • Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity for:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for pediatric units)
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (for 2025-26 season)
    • Tuberculosis screening (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) updated annually
  • References: Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RN or manager)
  • Employment History: Verification of previous 5 years of employment
  • Competency Exams: Required as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and age-specific competency exams
  • Photo: Passport/badge style photo with solid white or beige background required for badge issuance
  • Confidentiality and Agreements: Must sign confidentiality agreements and job description prior to start
  • Additional Facility-Specific Documents: Dress code review, latex allergy questionnaire, and other facility-required forms

Notes

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam is not required for this location.
  • Epic Portfolio Training Test Out form may be applicable depending on prior Epic experience.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this location; however, vaccine or declination documentation may be collected for tracking purposes.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized pediatric setting with a focus on NICU and related care, suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Rotating shifts and floating within the specialty are required. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
