Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights

Location: Lima, Ohio
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Nights
Shift Length: 12 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide patient care on the Progressive Care Unit following clinical protocols.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
  • Make clinical judgments based on scientific knowledge and skills.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.
  • Float to all units within your skill level as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification
  • Post-operative open heart care experience
  • Chest tube and other drain management experience
  • Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access
  • Assisting with chest tube removal
  • Assisting with removal of pericardial pacing wires
  • Management of temporary pacers, including pericardial and transcutaneous devices
  • Use and troubleshooting of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices

Additional Information

  • Nonbillable hours: 8 hours.
  • Dress code: Navy Blue.
  • Electronic Medical Record system: MediTech.
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio: approximately 4-5 patients per nurse.
  • Refusal to float may result in being sent home without pay for the week.
  • Applicants seeking more than 7 days off or more than 50% of holidays off, or with negative background/employment history, are not eligible for expedited processing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Critical care experience is highly preferred but not required.

This position follows a clinical interview process with outreach typically within two hours and decisions made by the next business day.
