Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Temp, Long Term Care (Days)

Location: Mound City, Missouri

Job Description

• Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
• Develop and adjust plans of care using standardized assessments and evidence-based practices.
• Assess patient progress and modify treatments accordingly, documenting all regulatory and clinical information in electronic records.
• Evaluate treatment outcomes and make referrals as needed.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
• Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Accurately record treatment minutes following all regulatory standards.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings or in-services.
• Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as required.
• Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
• Adhere to ASHA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Speech-Language Pathology experience (New graduates accepted if Level II experience, not just Level I observation).
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
• Active Missouri State License for Speech-Language Pathology.
• Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA is required.
• Preferred: 3 years of experience holding active CCS certification.
• Ability to supervise CFY or student clinicians.

Additional Information

• Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists; typical treatment times for SLP are about 30 minutes per session.
• Caseload typically ranges from 10-14 patients per day depending on evaluations.
• Group therapy is allowed and encouraged to help with productivity.
• Therapists typically have a dedicated device for documentation.
