EEG Tech Travel Opportunity
Location: Dallas, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered EEG Technologist to work in an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit with 12 beds. The unit provides continuous video EEG monitoring and inpatient/outpatient EEG and EP procedures across all age groups including neonates, pediatrics, and adults. The role involves performing bedside EEGs in critical care settings and collaborating closely with other departments.
Work Schedule
- Rotating weekends
- Three 12-hour shifts per week (day or night)
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- No on-call required
Unit & Equipment
- Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with 12 beds
- Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6
- Equipment used: Natus XLTEK system for EEG and documentation
- Documentation system: Natus XLTEK; Meditech used for billing
- No floating to other units; EEGs also performed at a nearby Heart & Spine hospital
Required Qualifications
- EEG Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience
- EEG Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS certification required
- Experience working with neonate patients
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Experience working with adult patients
- Ability to place electrodes according to the 10/20 Electrode Measurement System
Advanced Skills Preferred
- Ability to identify abnormal EEG waveforms and escalate to physicians promptly
- Experience with elective EMU patients
- Experience monitoring stereo EEGs preferred
Procedures Performed
- All inpatient EEGs performed at the bedside
- Inpatient and outpatient EEG and EP procedures
- Continuous video EEG monitoring available 24/7/365 for multiple hospitals in the region
Patient Care Expectations
- Use critical thinking to provide optimal patient care
- Comfort patients and families by explaining procedures and answering questions
- Work collaboratively with other caregivers to perform bedside tests
Dress Code
- Ceil blue scrubs required
Unit Recognition & Environment
- NAEC Level IV Accredited Epilepsy Center for Adults
- ABRET Accredited EEG Department
- Staffed 24/7/365 with a mix of seasoned and new technologists
- Clinical site for an EEG training program
Additional Notes
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
- Floating to other units is not part of this role
