Description

Dietician - Nutrition (Travel Position)

Location: Brownsville, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 214
  • Number of Staff: 34
  • Day Shift Coverage: 3 (2 Registered Dietitians + 1 Clinical Nutrition Manager)
  • Night Shift Coverage: No Registered Dietitian coverage
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 12-18 patients per Registered Dietitian daily
  • Patient Units: ICU, NICU, PCU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, Oncology, Maternal, Behavioral Health, Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech, Health Touch

Job Responsibilities

  • Nutrition assessment and reassessment
  • Nutrition Focused Physical Exam (NFPE)
  • Malnutrition identification and documentation
  • Nutrition support recommendations
  • Diet education and counseling
  • Calorie counts
  • Participation in multidisciplinary rounds

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Previous acute care hospital experience
  • Nutrition support experience
  • NICU or critical care experience

Work Environment & Policies

  • Dress Code: Professional business casual or black scrubs
  • Follow ASPEN nutrition support guidelines
  • Complete assessments within required timeframes
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds
  • Adhere to hospital documentation standards
  • Follow infection prevention policies
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards

Schedule

  • No weekend shifts
  • On-call support available from Clinical Nutrition Manager for urgent nutrition support questions and clinical needs
