Description

Operating Room Registered Nurse - Albuquerque, NM (Travel/Contract)

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
  • Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Hours per Week: 48 hours
  • Call Requirements:
    • Approximately 3 weeknight call shifts (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM) every 6 weeks (Monday–Thursday)
    • 2–3 twelve-hour call shifts on weekends every 6 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

  • Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, including:
    • Social Security trace
    • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
    • Nationwide sex offender check
    • Education verification (highest level)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
  • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only); must be redone for every new contract
  • Education verification required; transcripts or diplomas may be accepted temporarily if verification is delayed
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations or religious exemptions accepted; medical exemptions require provider approval)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start for positive TB results; must be renewed annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; if negative/equivocal, 2 boosters post titer required (may start with 2nd booster pending)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted; if negative/equivocal, 1 booster post titer accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox required; if negative/equivocal, 2 boosters post titer required (may start with 2nd booster pending)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); declinations not accepted

  • Core HIPAA and safety training acknowledgments required
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable (minimum 80% passing score)

This position offers a structured day shift schedule with additional call responsibilities and requires a solid foundation of OR nursing experience and certifications. Compliance with extensive background, health, and immunization requirements is mandatory.
