Description
Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Level I trauma center with specialties including ENT, Urology, Plastics, General Surgery, Orthopedic, Trauma, and Neurosurgery
- Surgical cases include General, Urology, Endo/Laparoscopic, Plastics, ENT
- Procedures range from minor to very complex (e.g., ECMO, burn procedures, tumor resections, trauma procedures)
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and some adults
- Equipment used: Stealth, DaVinci, ROSA
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including Pediatrics OR experience
- OR experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Experience in Urology, Plastic Surgery, and ENT Surgery
Additional Important Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position; prior travel experience is required
- Indiana RN travelers have restrictions on new contract start dates effective 11/30/2024, with exceptions for Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
- Local travelers with permanent Indiana residence may be offered adjusted compensation (not detailed here)
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance documents must be completed prior to start
- On-site fit testing is limited and requires prior approval
- Candidates must complete all mandatory modules and orientation requirements by specified deadlines
Summary
This Pediatric OR RN travel contract position requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with trauma and neuro skills, Indiana RN licensure, and multiple certifications including BLS, PALS, NRP, and ACLS. The role involves working day shifts in a Level I trauma center with a diverse pediatric and some adult patient population undergoing complex surgical procedures. Prior travel experience is mandatory, and strict compliance with health, background, and facility-specific requirements is expected.
