Description

Hospice RN (Day Shift) - Montana

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Contract
  • Location: Missoula, Montana
  • Shift: Day Shift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Hours: 36 hours per week (.9 FTE)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Work Setting: Primarily inpatient hospice unit with potential in-home hospice visits as needed

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care focused on comfort and symptom management for terminally ill patients
  • Administer medications and interventions as ordered by physicians
  • Continuously assess patient needs to ensure a dignified, comfortable end-of-life experience
  • Supervise and delegate nursing support tasks to CNAs, ensuring safety, compassion, and adherence to care plans
  • Monitor CNA documentation for accuracy and provide mentorship and feedback
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds and contribute to care planning and family education
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to families and caregivers during end-of-life care
  • Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and communications in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Follow infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license valid in Montana or Compact RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in hospice, palliative care, critical care, or medical-surgical nursing
  • Experience working in a unionized healthcare environment
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
