Description

Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-6 patients
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend; 6 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule (Friday & Saturday nights)
  • Orientation: Every Monday
  • Uniform: Scrubs not provided; color royal blue required
  • Electronic Health Record: Experience with Cerner required
  • Skills: General Emergency Department care combining adult and pediatric patients

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health record system

Health and Background Requirements

  • Background Check: Criminal background check within 90 days including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; must include multiple state and federal searches
  • Drug Screen: Within 90 days of start; excludes marijuana; includes multiple drug classes; positive results reviewed by Medical Review Officer
  • Physical Exam: Annual physical confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and Testing:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)
  • N95 Fit Test: Within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)

Documentation and Compliance

  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years, including one from the most recent assignment
  • I-9 and E-Verify attestation required prior to start
  • Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed before hire date; may take multiple hours
  • Annual safety manual acknowledgement required
  • Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)

Additional Notes

  • Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
  • Must maintain all certifications and competencies current throughout assignment
  • This position requires working in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department setting
